With the origins of this area's name deriving from the Aboriginal name, 'Bulla' or 'Bulla Bulla' which means “two mountains” (a reference to Mount Kembla and Mount Keira), this coastal town lies at the foot of the steep coastal escarpment. With a rich heritage in mining culture, many of the pubs, churches, houses and public building capture the essence and flavour of a 19the century mining village.
