Nestled in the 'Hills of Gold', 45 minutes east of Tamworth, is the historic village of Nundle. Built on the rich Peel River in the western foothills of the Great Dividing Range this stylish country town is truly magical. Between the 1850s and the 1880s thousands of people came to the then called 'Peel River Diggings' to seek their fortune. Miners and their families formed communities at Nundle, Happy Valley, Hanging Rock, and Bowling Alley Point and pastoralists built thriving agricultural enterprises on the rich fertile soil. Gold, sapphire, green crystal and jasper can still be found in creek and river beds and visitors are welcome to try their hand at fossicking at many sites in and around Nundle.
Our picturesque park is located beside the Peel River in the tranquil surrounds of historic Nundle.
