For a quiet and peaceful retreat, stop over at the township of Bingara, nestled on the Gwydir River in the New England area of northwest New South Wales. The Bingara District is a fossicker’s paradise with a multitude of roads to take you out of town to find you fortune in gold, gems and crystals. It was the discovery of gold in 1852 that brought a flow of prospectors to the district and it continues to this day.
