Tweed Heads & Surrounds

About

Nestled in the caldera of an ancient shield volcano, the Tweed region offers a unique combination of World Heritage listed rainforests, lush rolling farmland and unspoilt beaches. The sub-tropical climate, great beaches and relaxed lifestyle make this a natural holiday spot. For spectacular views of Duranbah Beach is Point Danger, a lookout situated on the New South Wales and Queensland border. Point Danger was named by Captain James Cook as he sailed up the east coast of Australia to warn of dangerous coral reefs off the coast. The Tweed Coast is overflowing with activities to be enjoyed on holidays. To explore the Tweed River, you can hire a boat, enjoy a cruise, or try your hand at fishing and crabbing. Tweed Heads is also a shopper's delight, with two major shopping centres offering a host of nationwide retail chains.
